April 2012 Monthly Meeting.

The meeting was held on Sunday April 15th 2012 at 10.00am at the Auditorium at the San Fernando Technical Institute at the Southern end of the Solomon Hochoy Highway in Tarouba, San Fernando.
This meeting will discuss important aspects of the 2012 South Show.

South Spring Show 2011 Report

The completion of the South Show 2011 report will be presented by the Chairpersons Sharon Ramjit-Mohammed and Kerry Lutchman.

Annual Orchid Show 2011

The report of the Annual Orchid Show which was held in October 2011 at NAPA will be presented at this month monthly meeting. Chairperson Joan Hampton will give the show report.

South Orchid Show 2012

The South Orchid Show will be held at the San Fernando Technical Institute in San Fernando on Saturday May12th and Sunday May 13th 2012, theme for this year's South Orchid Show "ORCHIDS -: A TRIBUTE TO MOTHERS"
Members are encouraged to participate and give their full support to the Show.
There will be a prominent well designed single entry display area to display exhibits from individual members and other exhibitors who are not putting up their own display and affords a great opportunity to compete for some of the prizes. Every member is therefore encouraged to exhibit their flowering orchid plants and flowers at this show. The show will be open to the public from 9.00 am to 6.30 pm on both days and will feature exhibits within the entire auditorium.
Sister Societies, Environmental Organizations and the Ministry of Agriculture will also be staging exhibits. There will be many vendors selling orchid plants and horticultural supplies
An entry desk will be set up at the show hall to receive entries of orchid plants and cut flowers on Thursday May 10th 2012 from 12.00 noon to 9.00 pm. An exception will be allowed for floral arrangements and corsages to be received up to 9.00 am on the morning of Friday May 11th 2012 prior to the commencement of judging.
Judging of exhibits will be done on the morning of Friday May 11th 2012. .
Assistance is required from members of the Society for the Information desk and Box Office.

Entry to the Show will be free to members on presentation of their Membership Card 2011/2012. Members whose subscription is not up to date should contact the Treasurer Gervais de Matas to have their membership renewed. Members who do not have their membership renewed for the current fiscal year will have to pay the admission fee for entry to the show.
Tickets for the show are available from the Secretary Diane Huggins (h) 632-8147 cell 682-9366 and other members of the Management Committee.
The Show Committee is appealing to members to take tickets to pre-sell in order to make this show a huge success.
Tickets will be available at this month monthly meeting.

Gala Opening /Cocktail Party.

The Formal opening of this year's show "ORCHIDS! A TRIBUTE TO MOTHERS"
Will take place on Friday May 11th 2012 at 6.00 pm at the Show Hall of the San Fernando Technical Institute at the Southern end of the Solomon Hochoy Highway in Tarouba, San Fernando. This gala opening affords those in attendance to preview the show in an exclusive setting prior to the show opening to the public.

Tea/Brunch

Tea will be served on both days of the show.
A brunch will be served on Sunday morning May 13th 2012
This will be a lovely opportunity for all mothers to enjoy a brunch and then view the show.

Dues for 2012/2013.

.Payment of membership dues for the fiscal year 2012/2013 will not be accepted on the day of the AGM.
Only financial members will be eligible to vote at the AGM
