April Monthly Meeting

This meeting will be held on Sunday April 17th 2016 at the San Fernando Technical Institute in San Fernando @ 10.00 am.

Monthly Show Table

There will be the monthly Show table so bring along your flowering orchids for judging.
At monthly meetings, medals can be awarded at the Show table for plants worthy of recognition
At our monthly meeting in March 2016 at St. Xavier's Primary School in St. Joseph,. Mr. Gervais de Matas was awarded a first prize, Members' choice and a silver medal for his plant Zygo petetum (Adeaide Meadows x Jumping Jack)
Congratulations to Mr. de Matas.

Monthly Plant Raffle

There will be a raffle of an Orchid Plant. The price is $5.00 for one (1) chance.

Cultural Notes

Mr. Curtis Lutchman will give a talk on stakeing of plants for the upcoming Show,
Mr Anis Baig will speak on designs for displays.

Trinidad & Tobago Orchid Species Data Base.

The Society is very anxious to change the format of the data base. At the last monthly meeting, members were invited to propose the intended change. Members are again requested to submit their proposals. Pictures of native species would be welcome.

Diamond Jubilee - (60) Years South Orchid Show

The opening times for the Show have been changed from 9.30 am to 9.00am on both days. .
After this month's monthly meeting, we are requesting members to attend a short meeting with regards to the Show. The Diamond Jubilee (60) Years South Orchid Show would welcome any input from you to make this Show a truly memorable occasion. The Venue is the San Fernando Technical Institute and dates are Saturday 21st and Sunday 22nd of May.

As this newsletter is late in going to post, we would appreciate you informing members who do not possess e-mail addresses, of the venue and time.
