February Monthly Meeting 2015

February monthly meeting will be a family day at the island home of Michael Lazzari on Monos Island on Sunday February 22nd, 2015 to view his garden/orchids.
Members wishing to join in this family day are advised to contact Anthony Tang Kai @ 676-8479 or Diane Huggins @632-8147.
The costs to members are $100.00 which include food, drinks and boat transport to the Island.
Parking is available at the Island Property Owners Association which is located in Chaguaramas (after Caribbean Fisheries Training and Development Institute) next to the Swan Hunter facility for a fee of $20.00 payable on entrance.
The boat transporting the members of the Society will leave from this location at 9.00 am on Sunday 22nd, February 2015.
The Society regrets that children will not be accommodated at this family day.
There will be no show table at the family day.

South Orchid Show 2015

The Society is still awaiting confirmation of the venue for the South Orchid Show 2015

Barbados Orchid Society Show 2015

An invitation has been received from the Barbados Orchid Society to participate in their biennial show on March 28th and 29th , 2015. The show is being held under the auspices of the American Orchid Society with a team of AOS judges to judge and award prizes.
The Society will be participating by mounting a display at the show.
Members wishing to send cut flowers for the Society's display and who are entering their flowers for judging are required to have these flowers at the HSTT headquarters on Wednesday 26th March 2015 by 10.00 am for inspection by Plant Quarantine and for packing.

Members are also requested to furnish a listing of the flowers that are to be entered for judging.

This listing is required by the Barbados Orchid Society show committee for registration of the orchid /flowers that will be entered for judging.
The Society would like as many flowers as possible for the display, so do send your flowering orchids. We would like to have a grand display and at the same time, capture some of the awards that will be awarded by the AOS judges.
The Society has obtained a group fare from Caribbean Airlines of US $354.00 for anyone wishing to travel to Barbados for the show.
Date of departure is Thursday March 26th and returning March 29th 2015.

The Barbados Orchid Society has obtained room rates from the Butterfly Hotel as follows:
(1) Superior Room double occupancy
US. $121.50 per night one king or two twin beds.
(2) Studio double occupancy US$130.50 per night one king or two twin beds.(with kitchenette)
Official opening of the show takes place on Friday 27th March 2015 at 6.30 pm (cost to be advised)
Dinner and awards Ceremony Saturday 28th 2015 at 7.30 pm (cost to be advised).
