Greetings and Best Wishes for 2009! The President and Management extend greetings to members and their families and best wishes for a bright and prosperous New Year 2009. We also wish to thank all our members for your support during the past year 2008 and look forward to your continued participation in supporting all our endeavors as we steer the Society to great heights in this coming year. January
Monthly Meeting There will be the usual show table so please bring along your flowering plants. There will also be a short segment on Orchid Pests and Diseases. If any member has a plant that they think has a disease, they can bring along only a sample cut portion of the diseased part enclosed in a sealed clear plastic bag for further information and advice. We will have a discussion on Cost Review of the Society's Operations particularly with regards to Refreshments at Monthly Meetings and Mailing of Monthly Newsletters. Fund Raising One of the Society's goals for the year 2009 is to raise funds in its continuing quest to acquire a home. In this regard the Society would like to publish a calendar for the year 2010 consisting of twelve (12) photographs of orchids together with names of each orchid, its owner and the photographer. The Society would like members to contribute to this venture by submitting any input they can. A committee will be formed, and we are inviting many members to participate. February 2009 Monthly Meeting. February monthly meeting will be a Field Trip to Grand Riviere on Sunday, February 15th. Members traveling from Port of Spain, San Fernando and Central will meet at 8.00 am at a starting point at O'Meara Road, just off the traffic lights at the intersection with Churchill Roosevelt Highway, in an open area, next to the doubles vendor. Members from the East will meet at the junction of Valencia and Toco roads. Upon arrival use your cell Phone to contact Gopaul Chackan at 733-3153 between 8.45-9.00 am for further instructions. It is suggested that members should think about car pooling. Members are required to bring along their lunch, water and any other refreshment that they require. Insect repellent and proper clothing should also be included. The field
