Happy New Year and best wishes for 2017 with successful orchid growing!
For all members of
the orchid world, 2017 unfortunately started on a sad note with the passing
of Alexander 'Sandy' Gibson on January 2nd. Sandy was an Honorary Member
of the TTOS and also one of our Trustees with great knowledge and willingness
to share his knowledge on any specie of orchid or plant. We send our sincere
condolences to his family.
We also send our condolences to Jassodra Sooklal on the passing of Keshwar
Maharaj during the Christmas season. Kesh was a previous member of the
TTOS who served on the Management Committee. He was also very knowledgeable
and shared his experiences and growing styles with everyone.
At the next meeting here will be a Raffle of an orchid at $5.00 per chance.

Annual
Christmas Lunch
Our annual Christmas Lunch was held on December 11th at the Headquarters
of the Horticulture Society, Lady ChancellIor Road. It proved to be a
lovely lunch with members participating in the Dutch Action of a beautiful
flowering Phalaenopsis and an Angraecum sequipedale.

Recognition
Our Society was recognized by the American Orchid Society for over 50
years of Affiliation with them. A copy of the certificate is shown below.

Invitation to Barbados Orchid Society Show
We have been invited to participate at the Barbados Orchid Society Orchid
biennial Show "Orchids Masquerdae" to be held on March 23rd
to March 26th, 2017 at Balls Plantation Christ Church. This will be an
American Orchid Society judged show.
We have accepted this invitation and a team lead by Joan Hampton and Antonio
de Gannes. Please contact either of them if you are interested into attending
the show also. We also like to urge members to being preparing their flowers
to send to Barbados for this show.
