Orchid Show
This month's
meeting will take place on Sunday June 25th 2006 at the La Vega Estate in
Gran Couva. This meeting will be a family day so members can bring along as
guests members of their family as well as friends. Members bringing along
guests are requested to notify the Secretary or any member of the executive
so that catering arrangements can be made. The meeting will be an all day
event with a short meeting and the rest of the day will be for your enjoyment.
The La Vega Estate offers for sale plants and garden supplies, visits to their
unrestricted growing areas, hiking, boating, fishing. Also there are areas
for meditation, children activities and for relaxation. Kindly pack your picnic
baskets and come along to a fun filled day of activities and enjoyment.
To get to the La Vega Estate, turn off the Solomon Hochoy Highway at the Couva
Flyover and head east in the direction of Preysal and follow the main road
towards Gran Couva. The La Vega Estate is approximately six and a half miles
off the highway and there are signs posted all along the way for your guidance.
There will be a Show Bench and a plant raffle of an orchid plant kindly donated
by Antonio De Gannes.
New Date July 23rd 2006..
The Annual General Meeting of the Society takes place at 10.00 a.m. on Sunday
July 23rd 2006. The venue for this meeting will be the HSTT Building
on Lady Chancellor Road, Port-of-Spain. So keep this date in mind and participate
in making your Society a truly vibrant one. You will be advised of the meeting's
agenda in a separate notice.

Renewal
Members are reminded to renew your membership before the date of the A.G.M.
as only members who are financial can vote at the Annual General Meeting.
News Items
The Society has won a Gold Medal for their exhibit at the HSTT Show held in March 2006 at the St. John Ambulance Brigade Hall on Wrightson Road. We wish to thank all members who contributed plants for the show, those who assisted in the set-up of the display, and those who took responsibility on the days of the show to be at the booth to greet and to assist visitors to the show.
Fiftieth (50th) Year Anniversary Celebrations.
In celebration of our fiftieth (50th) year anniversary, the society looks forward to full participation by all members. Many activities are being planned and we need members to take responsibility and to assist. We are requesting that members who have artifacts of the Society to share it with us as this can be of great value in tracing and recording the history of the society. Any member who has artifacts they are willing to share can contact Joan Hampton or Diane Huggins.

Corner
Our Librarian will be present at monthly meetings in his corner, and members
are requested to return all overdue books. New members please note that the
facility of the Library is available to all members and we encourage you to
utilize its services rated as one of the best Orchid Libraries in the Caribbean.
