June 2009 Monthly Meeting

The Meeting will be held Sunday June 28th , 2009 at 10.00 am at the La Vega Estate Garden Centre in Gran Couva located in Central Trinidad.
To get there you turn off the Couva Flyover on the Solomon Hochoy Highway heading east. Travel along this main road continuing in an easterly direction into Gran Couva. You will notice directional signs posted at the side of the road leading to the estate. The entrance to the estate is off the left side of the Gran Couva main road and the estate is about one mile inside This month's meeting will be the Annual Family Day so do bring along your picnic basket and your whole family and enjoy the beautiful landscaped outdoor surroundings of the La Vega Estate.

Activities that can be enjoyed on the estate are biking, lake fishing, trail walking, meditation, sports and outdoor relaxation. Of course this visit is a wonderful opportunity to view the La Vega Estate sales area which displays a wide variety of plants from which you can choose.

Members are not allowed to bring plants for sale at this venue.

The meeting will feature the monthly show table, so do bring along your flowing plants. The President Gopaul Chackan will give a brief report on the recently concluded Spring Orchid Show which was held at the San Fernando Technical Institute and there will also be the presentation of Show Awards.

There will be a discussion regarding membership dues.

The Show Treasurer Mr. Gervais de Matas request that members with outstanding moneys for show tickets settle these matters with him by the latest at the June 2009 monthly meeting at La Vega Estate in order for the accounts to be finalized

RENEWAL OF MEMBERSHIP DUES FOR 2009 / 2010

Members are reminded that the Treasurer Mr. Gervais de Matas is now receiving member's renewal subscriptions for 2009/2010. Payment can be made by cheque payable to the Trinidad & Tobago Orchid Society and mailed to the Society P.O.Box 1128,Port of Spain as well as payment at the June 2009 monthly meeting.

The Annual General Meeting will be held in July 2009, and all dues must be paid by July 1st, 2009 well prior to the AGM. The Treasurer will not be accepting subscriptions on the day of the AGM. Only members who are financial will be allowed to vote at the AGM

JULY 2009 MONTHLY MEETING.

The Annual General Meeting and monthly meeting will be held in July 2009. Tentative date for this meeting is Sunday 19 , July 2009 at the Horticultural Society Building on Lady Chancellor Road , Port of Spain.

OCTOBER 2009 ANNUAL ORCHID SHOW.

The Annual Orchid Show of the Trinidad & Tobago Orchid Society is carded for 3rd and 4th , of October 2009
This will be an A.O.S. judged show.
The Show Chairperson is Diane Huggins and a team has already been assembled for the show committee. Persons willing to assist should contact Diane. All plans are being made for a successful show and this can only be achieved by all members participating.

Now is a good time to repot and prepare your plants to bring them into bloom for the show.
