Carupano Orchid Show.
A party of 23 orchid
enthusiasts from Trinidad and Tobago Orchid Society accompanied by 6 Barbadians
went to Carupano, Venezuela for the Venezuelan's annual Orchid Show held
on July the 19-21, 2002 The Trinidad and Tobago Orchid
Society display won 7 first places and 2 class
prizes. The class prizes were won by A. Chin Fatt
for a Phalaenopsis and B. Sankar for the Best
Vanda. TTOS's display was in the running for the
best display.

All in all every one
had a good time and enjoyed
the entertainment provided by our Venezuelan
hosts. Representatives of the Carupano Orchid Society have confirmed that
they will coming to
the TTOS show this year.
TTOS will host our
45th Annual Show at the Ambassador Hotel, Port of Spain . The gala
opening will be held on Friday evening October 4th and viewing of the
Show for the public will be on
the 5&6 th. This year's theme is "Le Jardin". Overseas participants
as well Embassies have
been invited to mount exhibits of orchids from their country.
The August monthly
meeting will be held at St Xavier's Private School, St Joseph on Sunday
August 18th, 2000 at 10.00.
There will be a show
table and judging will be held
in the following classes:
Renanthera, Arachnis
and hybrids; Vanda; Ascocenda; Phalaenopsis: Dendrobium; Cattleya; Oncidium;
Terrestrials; Trinidad and Tobago
species; Other species and hybrids; First
flowering seedlings.
A new class has been added for the plants of new members
of the Society.
Plant prizes are awarded to the best exhibits.
